International Museum Day Symposium

§

Happy to host the International Museum Day Symposium, organised by National Heritage Board, International Council of Museums (ICOM) Singapore and the Museum Roundtable!

The theme for the symposium is “Museums, Education and Research”.

This theme recognises the vital role museums play in conducting research and launching initiatives focused on youth engagement, enhancing the well-being of visitors, and providing quality education to deepen our understanding of the world.

Speakers from Costa Rica, UK, USA, Philippines, France and Canada flew in to present at this prestigous symposium.

I also had the opportunity to moderate a Q&A session with keynote speaker Emeritus Professor Tai Yong Tan, President of Singapore University of Social Sciences (SUSS), Honorary Chairman of the National Museum of Singapore and Board Member of the National Heritage Board.

The event also featured three discussion panels with spirited discussions on the topics of:
– Youth Engagement and Education in Museums
– Insights on Social Prescriptions in Museums
– New Approaches to Accessibility for Museums

Lester Leo was the emcee for International Museum Day Symposium.
