More than 500 CERT leaders gathered at Gardens by the Bay for this wonderful celebration!
Lester Leo was the emcee for PA Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) 20th Anniversary.
Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) is an organised group of volunteers specially trained to respond to an emergency and assist the community in the recovery process. CERT strengthens the emergency response capabilities of the local community. Its members are able to render basic first aid, evacuation and crowd control before as well as after the emergency authorities arrive.
Today, CERT has more than 8,000 volunteers, including CERT 1,000 leaders, across all Singapore constituencies.
The event saw the official launch of CERT 20th Anniversary which will also kickstart commemorative activities that will extend throughout the year.
People’s Association also signed an MOU with Singapore Red Cross, aimed at enhancing CERT roles in organizing community blood donation drives and developing institutional knowledge through overseas experiential programs, to effectively address the issue of dwindling national blood stocks and to improve emergency response capabilities.
