About SingHealth
At SingHealth, our common purpose is to provide quality and affordable healthcare for our patients through quality Service, Education and Research.
SingHealth Residency plays an important educational and training role within SingHealth – nurturing the future generation of medical professionals – our Residents. We strive to develop our Residents into highly skilled medical leaders, who are innovative, self-directed learners with a strong sense of ethics and compassion.
As the largest Sponsoring Institution for Residency Programs in Singapore, we have over 850 Residents enrolled in 34 programs, out of which 24 are internationally-accredited with ACGME-I while the other programs are locally accredited. We expect the number of Residents to increase to about 1000 in the steady state. With 3 Hospitals (Singapore General Hospital (SGH), KK Women’s and Children’s Hospital (KKH) and major participating site, Changi General Hospital (CGH)), 5 National Specialty Centres and 9 Polyclinics, we have a high clinical volume and variety in all specialties and subspecialties, thereby providing you with comprehensive clinical training.
Our Faculty comprises a group of locally and internationally renowned Clinician Educators who are passionate about teaching, with a common goal of nurturing the next generation to be better than themselves. Their vast clinical and instructional experiences will groom and equip you with the necessary medical knowledge and skills required to deliver quality patient care. In addition, our Centre for Resident and Faculty Development (CRAFD) equips you with other competencies like Practice-Based Learning and Improvement, Interpersonal and Communication Skills, Professionalism and System-Based Practice. There are also optional programs in Research and Education to cater to the varied interests of our Residents.
Apart from work, the Office of Resident Affairs was formed to look into your welfare and to ensure work-life balance. You will have opportunities to be involved in various committees and in leading the junior Residents.
SingHealth offers a comprehensive training experience with state-of-the-art facilities. The recently built Academia and the National Heart Centre Singapore are both situated at the Outram Campus, equipped with world-class research and educational facilities to enhance your training experience.
SingHealth is also expanding. Sengkang General and Community Hospitals will commence its operations in 2018. KKH will be expanding their campus and enhancing their capabilities along with our major participating site, CGH which will have more facilities in their new Integrated Building and CGH Medical Centre. These developments will provide better training facilities for you, and more importantly better career opportunities after you have graduated from your Residency or Fellowship Program.
Our strategic partnership with Duke-NUS on Academic Medicine, which taps on their strength in biomedical research and medical education capabilities, will also open more doors and provide you with greater opportunities and access to world-class research, clinical trials, new drugs, medicine and the latest technology.
The Residency Program is a long journey filled with many challenges. If you are willing to put in the effort, our dedicated Faculty members are willing to walk this journey with you, support you and develop you to your fullest potential.
Come, join the SingHealth Residency!
