On 18 October 2024, SCIC organised ChemEx, the Chemical Industry Experience 2024. This year, it is the 17th year running since its inception in 2008.
ChemEx 2024 introduced several exciting changes, making it a notable event for industry members and students. The event was held on a Friday instead of the usual Saturday, allowing for greater participation.
A new segment, Dialogue with Leaders, was introduced in ChemEx 2024. In this dialogue session, leaders from the chemical industry shared their experiences, insights and visions for the future. They discussed emerging trends, challenges and opportunities, providing valuable guidance and inspiration for attendees keen to understand what lies ahead for the sector.

As part of ChemEx, students were given the opportunity to visit either the Institute of Sustainability for Chemicals, Energy, and Environment (ISCE2) or participate in a site visit to a company facility within or outside of Jurong Island. These visits provided an informative experience on the applications of concepts learnt in the classroom and deepening their understanding of the industry.
After the visits, participants gathered at e2i@Devan Nair Institute to engage with industry professionals. This interaction allowed students to gain valuable insights into career opportunities, prospects and progression pathways within the chemical industry after completing their studies.
