Happy to host the launch of the very meaningful My Digital Bootcamp organised by Central Singapore Community Development Council and supported by UOB.

The Guest-of-honor was Ms Indranee Rajah, Minister in the Prime Minister’s Office, Second Minister for Finance and Second Minister for National Development, and hosted by Mayor of Central Singapore District Ms Denise Phua.

The third edition of ‘My Digital Bootcamp’ will help 1,500 lower-income students from Central Singapore District acquire new digital and soft skills.

The initiative, sponsored by United Overseas Bank (UOB) as part of the Central Singapore Community Development Council’s (CDC) SkillsFuture Junior movement, will provide students with four modular workshops in advanced digital-making skills, such as robotics, mobile app development, game design, and programming.

The programme aims to equip young residents with the digital and soft skills they need to be future-ready. Participants will also be exposed to complementary soft skills, such as logical reasoning, pattern recognition, algorithm design, relationship management, and communication skills.

Each child will take home a special home-based learning digital-making kit, complete with a learning management system.

At the end of the season, participants will be invited to partake in a brand-new Hackathon component, which involves friendly competitions in digital-making skills, idea pitching, design thinking, and ideation.

UOB has donated $1.5 million across three seasons of the initiative, with $500,000 attributed to season three.

More than 2,000 children from 34 schools and community organisations in Central Singapore have benefitted from the programme since its launch in September 2019.

The initiative aims to level the playing field for disadvantaged children who may not have access to extra-curricular education.

The programme is one of 52 offered under Central Singapore CDC, which aims to better support its residents in their journey of lifelong learning.
